Parenting Support and Resources
Parenting can be a meaningful and realistic choice, even when a pregnancy is unexpected. Support and resources are available to help you take things one step at a time.
Metro Women’s Center offers parenting classes that cover prenatal care, infant care, early childhood development, and safety. The HOPE Program provides essential baby items through a point-based system. We can also help connect you with community resources, including assistance with finding financial resources and referrals for OB/GYN prenatal medical care, housing, and more.
In addition, Metro Women’s Center operates the Amazing Grace Home, a residential program for pregnant women who need a stable place to live while planning for the future. Residents receive meals, basic necessities, weekly classes, and personalized support focused on life skills, parenting, and next steps after pregnancy. The home provides a safe environment with practical and emotional support.
Considering Adoption
For those who want to continue a pregnancy but do not feel prepared to parent, adoption may be an option to explore. Today, adoption plans can be personalized based on your comfort level, lifestyle, and priorities.
Adoption plans include:
- Open adoption, where some contact may continue after the baby is born
- Semi-open adoption, where communication happens through an agency
- Closed adoption, which keeps identifying information private
If you would like more information or wish to speak with an adoption agency, Metro Women’s Center recommends:
These Minnesota-based agencies can guide you through the adoption process, explain your rights, and provide support before, during, and after the process.
If you’re curious about adoption, you can reach out to either of them. They’re both happy to answer questions.
You Don’t Have to Decide Alone
